10 Days. $25,000. Rise to the Challenge

Please join the Alumni Challenge to raise $25,000 in just 10 days. Every gift will be matched dollar‐for‐dollar by Bud (UF BSEE ' 88, Emory Law '92) and Kim Deffebach (UF BS '88, GSU PhD '97) and is used to provide engineering students with development through opportunities for multidisciplinary activities to improve engineering makerspace skills, hands-on learning, design, and prototyping.

WHAT DOES MY GIFT SUPPORT?

STUDENTS! Gifts to the Engineering Education Department Excellence Fund support students across all engineering majors. The department focuses on undergraduate engineering student development through opportunities for multidisciplinary activities to improve skills, hands-on learning, design, and prototyping. The department trains and supports student peer mentors (junior/senior engineering students) who help faculty guide hands-on education for first-year students. Our peer mentors support incoming students technically and socially to help student belonging and retention in engineering.

ABOUT BUD AND KIM DEFFEBACH

Bud (UF BSEE ' 88, Emory Law '92) and Kim Deffebach (UF BS '88, GSU PhD '97) met as undergraduates at the University of Florida and are proud parents of two Gators - recent graduate Lee Deffebach (UF BSCE '21) and Kate Deffebach, a (UF BSCLAS ’22).

The Deffebachs have generously committed funds to provide a dollar-for-dollar match of alumni contributions to the college up to $25,000 in support of the Department of Engineering Education. Your dollars are paramount in expanding student success through experiential learning, cultivating interdisciplinary educational opportunities, and mentorship experiences and each one will be doubled, November 2-12.
